      We hope to update this list weekly, so be sure to check our site regularly to see where you stand. As it did for our team, we hope this group will serve as proof that other people like you believe in the system and are GIVING. Roadify has now received nearly 1,000 GETS so your GIVES truly are helping others! And as we increase our user-base beyond 500, more people are becoming GIVERS, increasing the likelihood of you GETTING spots that are valuable to you. Remember- the more you GIVE, the more you GET!

    A message from a GIVER: Be a friendly parker, please.

    Hi, my PAM avatar is Bassnote. I’m an avid user of Roadify and find myself in your top ten givers. I love what you are doing and support it whenever I can.

    I wonder if there is a way, possibly through you guys, to educate people a little bit on “friendly parking”. So often we lose spots in the slope by people not doing they’re best to park with others in mind. The biggest issue for me is the corners and the hydrants. People don’t park close enough, leaving valuable usable space that ends up wasted. So often you see a place where there might have been room for another car or even two but the person parked 18 feet away from a hydrant or 7 feet away from a corner.

    It just takes a little forethought as to how the next person is going to park to make more spots available for all of us. Sometimes it just takes a second to get out of the car and see if you can park a little closer to the corner, or a hydrant (12ft away of course) or another car to make a usable space for another driver.

    Thanks,
    Bassnote

    ***It’s a simple thing to take a second to make sure someone else can park too. We are working to get Jason’s ideas onto the website permanently but wanted to be sure to let everyone hear ‘em ASAP.

    Keep the emails coming! info@roadify.com

    BAM (BusesAroundMe) Launches Today!

    Hi to everyone who is excited about real-time bus transit information coming to the B67 today!

    The team is super excited about the next service provided by Roadify and will be out at 7ave/6st today at 3:00pm to show people how it works and get the ball rolling. Come on by to say hello and hear about BAM – look for the trademark neon beanies that our street team wears.

    How to use BAM:

    When wanting to know when the bus will be at your stop:
    Text “get b67″ then the direction the bus is headed and the cross streets where you are waiting for the bus. For example, “get b67 dtwn 7/union”

    When you are getting on the bus:
    Text “give b67″ then the direction the bus is headed and the cross streets where you are CURRENTLY.
    For example, “give b67 kens flatbush/atlantic”

      Living off the B67 in Kensington, I”m very excited about this service. The B67 is the only link between north park slope and windsor terrace / kensington. Thanks for this! Hopefully it’ll mean fewer HOURS of waiting in the cold.

    Momentum

    If it wasn’t clear before, it’s clear to us now – parking in Park Slope can be painful and many of us are ready to be part of a solution. Since Jan 01, our user community has grown by almost 50%; weekly GIVING has grown by 75%.

    Thanks to all of you who GIVE and have done your part to promote our cause via email, Twitter, and Facebook. Together, we’re proving that, with the help of good, simple technology, people will help each other in the interest of solving a real problem. When we do, and parking becomes easier, we’ll all save time, gas, money, and promote a cleaner, happier neighborhood to boot.

    Helpful DOs and DONTs

    Here are some helpful DOs and DON’Ts to consider when using ParkingAroundMe:

    DO…

    *Give your spot away in advance (by texting us like this: “give at 4th st btw 7/8 ave in 10 min). GIVING in advance maximizes a GETTERs chance of successfully switching places with you.

    *Give away open spots you see while walking (by texting us like this: “open at 4th st btw 7/8 ave).

    *Set a reminder for yourself to GIVE away your spot (by texting us like this: remind in 40 minutes OR by using calendars/alarms on your computer or phone). Remember, the more we GIVE the more we all can GET. Reminders help us develop the healthy habit of GIVING.

    *Use abbreviations when talking to PAM. For example:

    Street = st
    avenue = ave
    between = btw
    minutes = min
    4th street between 7th and 8th avenues = 4th st btw 7/8 aves

    *Share us with your friends via email, Twitter, and Facebook. The more people involved, the more spots will be available in the system.

    DON’T…

    *Text while driving. One of our mantras at Roadify is “Pull over for 30 seconds to save 30 minutes.”

    *View PAM as THE only solution to solve the parking problem in Park Slope – the Roadify Team acknowledges that there are more cars than parking spots in the neighborhood. Our solution attempts to provide some help so that we are a bit more efficient than we are today.

    *Feel like you need to wait for anyone to take your spot. Your time is too important. Plus, no one is entitled to a spot and be sure to respect first-come, first-served.

    Hope these hints were helpful. As usual, feel free to contact us at info@roadify.com with any questions, comments, or concerns!

    BusesAroundMe will change you life… seriously…

    BAM is coming….

    Soon you’ll be able to GIVE and GET information on where the heck the bus is. Instead of standing in the cold and wanting a coffee, users will be able to receive an up-to-the-second location of the next bus coming to them.

    It’s all based on people helping people. If I tell Roadify that I’m getting on the bus at 7th and 7th and you’re waiting on Flatbush, Roadify will relay that information to you so you can instead wait inside your favorite local coffee shop.

    Instead of getting 1000 texts from everyone all over the Slope, you GET one clean list of the next bus from Roadify.com.

    It’s super easy, and it’s FREEEEEEEE!

    Email us at info@roadify.com or tweet @roadify for updates and more info!
